I discovered Mrs. Wilder's books only this summer. What an inspiration she is to those who entertain thoughts of "too late for me." Her daughter and sons and their families surely are buoyed by their mother's strong faith and the clear knowledge that she touched thousands of lives. How valuable is a life well-lived.

Effie Wilder was my father's aunt. She had the Leland family's characteristic sense of the absurd and a delightful laugh. She was a great storyteller. As my mother, who is 89, said when she learned of Effie's death, " A great light in the world has gone out."
We will miss her.

I have been a fan of Effie Wilder's books since her daughter-in-law Ginga introduced me to them. Although we never met in person, I've always felt I've known her and that she was a great and special lady. Even those of us across the country will miss her.
Love and prayers for all the family.
