Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home - Lorain Obituary

Efrain Montijo, Jr. 69 of Lorain, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, after a lengthy illness.

He was born on November 19, 1956, in Hoboken, New Jersey, to Efrain and Aida Montijo. He graduated from Hoboken High School in 1974, and in 1975 his family relocated to Lorain, where he later retired from First Student as a school bus driver.

In 1979, Efrain married the love of his life, Felicita Otero, and after seventeen years apart, he is now joyfully reunited with her. Throughout his life, Efrain served in various ministries, including prison ministry, pastoring a small congregation, and music ministry. He was a longtime member of Iglesia Ebenezer and, most recently, of Templo Bethel in Lorain.

Efrain loved spending time with his family, playing guitar, and working on crafts and hobbies. His devotion to the Lord touched everyone who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Felicita in 2008, his brother Edgar “Gary” in 2005, and his parents in 2017.

He will always be remembered by his children: Elsa (Jeremy) Rivera of Amherst, Ivelisse (Ralph) Harris of Lorain, Isaac Montijo of Elyria, and Naydalisse (Arthur) Ciclet of Mason, Ohio. He will always be cherished by his grandchildren: Marielyse, Sara, Rachel, Elena, Isaac Jr., Jenelle, Benjamin, and Ralph. He is also loved by his brothers Melvin and Richard Montijo of Lorain.

Friends may call at Temple Emmanuel Assembly of God, 4230 Clinton Avenue, Lorain on Monday, February 23, 2026, from 5:00 PM until time of his service at 7:00 PM. His funeral will be there Tuesday February 24 at 10:00 AM. Reverend Adalberto De Jesus, Pastor of Templo Bethel will officiate. Burial to follow immediately at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.

Not sure what to say?

I would like to thank you for being there for me when I needed you the most in prayer. Thank you for being family, the great jokes and most importantly bringing me closer to God.

In your final days, I was sharing pictures of the kids and our little family moments, not knowing how precious those exchanges would become. I will forever treasure your voice notes, your prayers over my life, not to mention those memes and shorts from YouTube that made me laugh so much! I will miss your loving advice. Thank you for covering me in prayer. Thank you for always been there for me! I love you always, Tio Efraín.
