There were two Embree families in Sierra Madre, Bert's and my dad Alvin's. We were kids at the time, and even tho we were told we were not related, everyone was still 'family'. That was 60 years ago, but I still remember them well.

Bert was an enthusiastic and knowledgeable driver safety instructor. He helped develop a regular schedule of well-attended classes in Fortuna. He and I team taught a few classes there early in his tenure with the program, and I remember a fine lunch Velma prepared for us one of those times. He was very proud of his family and his home in Fortuna.
