It has been very nice to meet Egbert while I was living in rural PA, to wander with him in the Metropolitan and visit him in his study at the Institute, his library like a labyrinth, in which my daughters once played hide and seek, dinners together with Clarice were a treat. He was not enticed to come to the PA countryside, but we did meet and in Amsterdam. I will never forget the stories and photos of his childhood in Siberia.
