AGE: 85 • Yonkers
Eileen M. Downey (nee Gallagher) of Yonkers died on Saturday December 14, 2013 at age 85. She was born on March 31, 1928 to William and Florence (Flanaghan) Gallagher in Yonkers where she was raised and graduated from Commerce High School. She worked as a secretary for Jacoby - Tarbox for many years. On October 27, 1956 she married Timothy G. Downey in St. Joseph's Church; he died in November of 2000. Eileen was a parishioner of St. Paul the Apostle Church; a member of their Leisure Club; also a member of St. Mark's seniors. She enjoyed her latest hobby as a painter. Mrs. Downey is survived by her 5 children; Jeanne Petix, Timothy Downey, Elizabeth Shahbazi, Karen Cristiano and Laura Downey. She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren, Melissa, Rebecca, Caitlin, Stephanie, Brian Timothy, Meaghan and Matthew and her great grandson Sammy. She was predeceased by Florence Tausch, Gerard Gallagher and Marilyn DiMaggio. Visiting hours will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Monday (today) December 16th from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be in St. Paul the Apostle Church on Tuesday December 17th at 10am. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
