Eileen Angel Dwyer, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, died peacefully at the age of 72 on February 4, 2025. Eileen was a lifelong resident of Point Pleasant who was passionate about two things: books and the beach. For over 15 years she was a librarian for the Ocean County Library System and previously worked as a bookkeeper, most notably at The Bluffs. She was a parishioner of St. Peter’s Church in Point Pleasant Beach where she also taught CCD for many years.
A bit of an Anglophile, Eileen found inspiration in all things British. She drank her daily English breakfast tea, reminisced fondly on her trips to the countryside, and had a deep affection for British mysteries. She was often seen with a book in her hand or enjoying her favorite television series, intrigued by the twists and turns of a good whodunit.
Her primary passion was the beach, and she spent countless summer days enjoying the shore and spending time with her family by the sea. She will be remembered for her intellectual curiosity, her sharp wit, and her passion for her hometown.
Eileen was predeceased by her parents William and Ann Dillon and her brothers Charles and William Dillon. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Timothy W. Dwyer; her daughters their husbands, Casey and Jeremy Herseim of Hazleton, PA and Amy Dwyer and Mike Ritchey of Brick, NJ; her brother Patrick Dillon of Forest Port, NY; her sisters and their husbands Nora and John Kolmer and Mary and Robert Polizzotto of Naples, Florida and Virginia Casey Kennedy of Toms River; and her grandchildren Caylee Anna and Nora Lynn Herseim and Timothy Dayle Ritchey.
A memorial gathering will be held on Friday from 7-9 PM at Van Hise & Callagan Funeral Home, 812 Arnold Avenue, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ.

Our condolences to the Dwyer family. Robert and I are heart broken to know that we will not see her smiling face or her kind soul again. It’s going to be hard not seeing her run out in the mornings for her Mc Donald’s ritual and our conversation about books gardening politics and the love she had for her grandchildren’s. Rest in peace Eileen.
