Eileen L. Kachevas

1940 - 2015

The best mom in the world died on May 21, 2015. She passed peacefully away surrounded by loved ones at her San Bernardino home, where she lived for almost 50 years. A native of Chicago, mom moved to San Bernardino as a child and attended St. Bernardine's High School and Skadron Business College. She worked at General Telephone and Security Pacific Bank before retiring from Cal State San Bernardino after 30 years of faithful and valued service as the lifeblood of the President's Office. She was beautiful, thoughtful, loyal, strong, wickedly funny, fiercely independent and incredibly generous - an honest-to-God angel on earth. She enjoyed crocheting, crosswords, online shopping, word games, HGTV, the Rams AND the 49ers, the SF Giants, the Oscars, Tom Jones, George Strait and Neil Diamond (not necessarily in that order) and could make the best bloody mary on the planet. She thought the sun rose and set on each member of her family and we adored and cherished her in return. She is survived by a loving fan club of family and friends that includes daughter Karen Martinez, grandson Greg Martinez and granddaughter Karina Martinez; daughter and son-in-law Michelle and Marcus Sitzman; and brother John O'Neill. Farewell, mom - you will forever be our hero and we love you beyond all measure, to the moon and back. Like a true hero, you fought the good fight and you made the world a better place. Cheers to our sweet sweet leenie4queenie - forever may you reign.
