'A Good Friend to Many'
Eileen M. Rice was a woman of many passions. Politics. Clothes. Latin. Her dog, Mozart. Her family described her as sophisticated, opinionated and caring, a woman who worked on behalf of animal rights and poor people but also indulged her fashion moods by owning 11 bathrobes.

Ms. Rice, 57, raised her son, Brian Keegan, and her daughter, Lesli Rice, largely as a single mother. She was an executive assistant for Marsh & McLennan."She was meticulous in her home and in her work and in her person," recalled Patrick Keegan, her younger brother. "I'll miss our conversations. She always talked about the underdog. She was unbelievably caring."

Lesli Rice said her mother was her foundation, and self-reliance was one of the many life lessons her mother taught. Her mother also passed on a love for the classics and for the Latin she learned during the Roman Catholic Masses of a bygone era. "She had a strong sense of values," said Lesli Rice. "She took pride in her work and everything she did. I don't think I'd be where I am without her. She was a good friend to many."

Not sure what to say?

Yesterday I rode in the 2 million bikers to DC memorial ride for the victims of the 9/11 tragedy. This was the second time for me and one of the most powerful parts is the organizers give out labels printed with a name of a victim. I had on two names....Eileen Mary rice was one...they asked that we post to let everyone know we will never forget..

For a class assignment in theology, we are reading tributes of those lost 11 years ago today. Eileen and her story really moved me. She was loved by many, especially her two children. My heart goes out to the friends and family of Eileen. I will always keep those of you still mourning her loss in my prayers. May God bless you and give you comfort on this day, and all of your days to come.

I ran in honor this weekend for the 9/11 Rememberance in Las Vegas, NV. You will never be forgotten Eileen.

We remember Eileen as a neighbor in the same building. Often we met each other in the hallways along with her dog Mozart and we talked about various subjects.Every year on the anniversary we place a candle out front in her honor. She is remembered and missed. Marge&Mike, Apt.3H

As I stitched your name on the memorial that I am doing for all of the victims, I prayed for you and your family. Please know that your death was not in vain. We will always remember. God Bless.

In memory....

May you Rest in Peace dear lady.

May God Bless you and keep you forever more. Rest in his loving peace..........
