Elaine Vivian (Moore) Dailey
Born: May 19, 1930
Died: November 14, 2022
Elaine Dailey, 92, of Sycamore passed into the arms of her Lord on November 14, 2022. She was born to Emma and Willlard Moore on May 19, 1930 and became a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in DeKalb. She married Rex Dailey in 1949 and was sad to lose him over twenty years ago; she is also in his arms again.
Elaine often asked why she was still here when she had already lost all of her siblings and countless friends. Sid, Iris, Marilyn, and Judy all preceded her in death. Elaine and her sisters performed as the "Moore Sisters" during their youth and were known for their musical act. She often told about all of them toting their instruments here and there in this area to entertain with their varied talents. Great memories!
We know Elaine was still here so that she could be a part of the lives of her daughter Linda (Bruce) Melin and granddaughters Jamie (John) Ivy and Abby (Nathan) Peterson. They brought her so much pride and joy throughout their upbringing and to this day. The addition of great-granddaughters Avery and Harper ensured that she was able to enjoy these last few years as her health became challenging. Aside from her immediate family, Elaine was fortunate to have numerous nieces and nephews!
Elaine was a hard worker starting at a very young age. She liked to reminisce about her time working at the theater in DeKalb as a teenager and later as a piano tuner at Wurlitzer. She had endless stories of the mischief that went on there at Wurlitzer with her sister, Iris. Later, she worked for her sister, Judy, at Regency Bank and added many memories of their time together there.
Elaine had many interests and adventures. Anyone who knew her also knew that she and Rex were avid fisherman and that they absolutely loved their vacations at Long Lake in Wisconsin. They spent many years trailer camping all over this area with a great group of friends and relatives. She was a true animal lover and her current dog, Fiesta, will certainly miss her lap. She found satisfaction in her work as a servant delivering meals on wheels, working on Braille bibles at Immanuel, working on the church newsletter, and transporting folks in wheelchairs at Oak Crest to chapel.
Funeral service will be held on Friday November 18, 2022, at 1:00PM in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in DeKalb, with Pastor Marty Marks officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday November 18, 2022, at 11:00AM till 12:30PM at Finch Funeral Home. Private family burial will be in Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb. In her memory, donations to St. Jude's would be appreciated in lieu of flowers. Arrangements were entrusted to: Finch Funeral Home 310 Oak St. DeKalb, IL, 60115 (815) 758-3841.

Not sure what to say?

Many happy memories. When she would babysit me we always had mayo sandwiches.

So very sorry for the loss of this wonderful woman.

To Elaines Family, We would like to send our sympathy and prayers to you all. Elaine was very kind to me when I started working at Kmart in 1984. The best thing I remember about those days was seeing her and Linda side by side smiling and taking time to say hello to me each time, thank you Kevin Cady

What an incredibly sweet lady. I met her many years ago and would occasionally run into her and she always carried that warm, friendly smile. Linda what a blessing I’m sure it was to have a mother like her and I know that you and the girls lit up her world. I’m so sorry to hear of her passing. Lifting you up in prayer ❤
