Elaine Esposito Obituary

ESPOSITO Elaine H. Esposito, age 66, of Danbury, was taken on the wings of angels to a place without pain, on Monday, August 23, 2004, after a courageous three-month battle with cancer. She was born on February 6, 1938, in Bridgeport, a daughter of Dominic Esposito of Florida, and the late Olga (Rappa) Esposito. After graduating from Central High School in Bridgeport, she married her high school sweetheart, Arthur DeVellis. She was employed by the Bridgeport Brass Co. before becoming a devout wife and mother. She enjoyed cooking, dancing, music, sewing, crocheting, and most of all, caring for her family. In addition to her father, Dominic Esposito, and his wife, Lena, Elaine is survived by her sons, Kenneth DeVellis and his wife, Lisa, of the Sandy Hook section of Newtown, and Christopher DeVellis and his wife, Barbie, of Roanoke, Va.; daughters, Michelle Levesque and her husband, Scott, of Waterford, and Stefanie Hunt and her husband, William, of Cotopaxi, Colo.; and her beloved grandchildren, Sarah, Corey, Joey, Ashley, Anna, Michael and Taylor. She also leaves her sisters, Joan Deaky and her husband, Bob, of Fairfield, and half-sister, Darlene Baron; half-brother, Frank Rappa; and her friend, Dan. She also leaves behind, in the care of her son and family, her cat, "Tanger" who was such a great companion to her for many years. Besides her mother, she was predeceased by her sister, Francine Martin. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 30, 2004, at 3 p.m. in the Newtown United Methodist Church, 92 Church Hill Road, Newtown. Interment will directly follow in the Newtown Village Cemetery, Newtown. Family and friends are invited to the Mona Lisa Restaurant, 160 South Main Street, Newtown, after the services. The Spadaccino Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Route 111, Monroe, is in charge of arrangements.

In 1956 I got a summer job at the Bridgeport Brass Company and landed in Accounts Payable with a wonderful group of gals that included Elaine. We had so much fun! I remember that she and I went down to New York City together one Saturday that August and saw Sammy Davis, Jr. in "Mr. Wonderful". Elaine and I lost touch over the years but I have never forgotten our brief friendship. My sympathy to her family. Rest in peace, Elaine.
