Elaine was like a second Mother to me. Growing up as a teenager, I probably spent more time at the house on Orchard Road than I did at my own home. I remember in particular one visit where she was so proud of the new drinking glasses she had just purchased. She said to me, "Look at these drinking glasses, they are unbreakable!" She then proceeded to drop one on the floor where is broke into a million pieces. She was so shocked! She stood there for a moment, and then we both burst out...
