Dear Family of Elaine; I was very saddened to hear of Elaine's passing. I have only the deepest respect and admiration for her. Looking back on the years when we worked together in the visual impairment services program, I fondly recall how she was so patient, and knowledgeable, confidently assisting our vets and families at the Batavia VA. Elaine was truly an inspiration for those who were fortunate to have known her. Elaine has "fought the good fight, finished the race, and has kept the faith." May she enter into the everlasting joy of heaven.

To The Powers Family, I grew to love, respect and admire Elaine when she was elected to the Board of Directors of NYS Industries for the Blind. The nicest part is that we remained friends long after those days. Barbara Gerber and I loved the times when we were able to meet Elaine, Jen and Sue Swanson at Sue's summer home at Alex Bay. Wonderful memories we will always have of the good times with Elaine. What a trooper and inspiration to everyone she knew.

Elaine was a friend and advocate for countless visually impaired women and men who served their country as veterans. She made fundamental differences in the quality of life for many who, without her intervention, would have lived far less happier and productive lives. She was also a friend to many in the Buffalo area, and no matter how busy she was, she always had time for a chat that extended beyond social niceties. We fondly remember her direct approach to solving problems, her vibrant sense of humor, and her love of life right to the very end. We extend our deepest sympathies to Mike and all her relations.

To Mike and Elaine's Family, I am so sorry to hear about Elaine's death. I've known her since high school. As adults we occasionally ran in to each other at bowling tournaments, Industries for the Blind of New York State board meetings, and at alumni reunions. I was always amazed at how many times she beat her cancer. I'm sorry she lost the fight. My condolences to all of you.
