Not sure what to say?

Everyone was so fond of Elbert. We will miss his honesty, wisdom and sharp wit. We've all lost something but for having known him and him having known us, overall, we have all gained immensely. Elbert will be missed, but lets keep his spirit with us and move forward knowing the world is a better place because of Elbert!

Dearest Doree,
So sorry to hear about your loss of your beloved. I know you and Elbert were so devoted to each other, and as a couple your love was an inspiration and warmth that enfolded others. My heart goes out to you and your family, and I wish I could be there to give you a huge hug. You are so very much loved!!!

Doree and family,
When I lost my Dad when I was 21 a family friend told me and my sisters not to be sad. He meant, I think, to be happy that we had had such a good man for a father. And that such a special man had walked the earth. That is what I think of when I think of Elbert.
I remember how it comforted me when Elbert said "that's what I would do too", after we told him how we skipped PH one Sunday to go canoeing with the boys on the recently flooded Rice Creek. And how he...

Doree and Family,
Can't be there in person but will be at Elb's memorial service in spirit. We are saddened by his passing. We have memories of his giving out roses at your birthday; a loving person. Al and Roberta

Doree, Lisa, Carol,
Can't be there but will wear a rose in my lapel to remember Elbert on Friday. Our deepest sympathies.

Dear Doree, I am not sure that words can express how I am feeling for you now. I know you had a great life together and will always have those cherished memories. I only met your husband a few times but I hear he was a wonderful man. Take care Doree. Rachel and I will try to come on Friday.
Yours in Scouting,
Emily and Rachel White

Doree,
I'm so sorry to hear about Elb. He will be missed. He was such a great story teller. His smile was absolutely contagious.
See you on Friday.

Much love,

Dear Doree, and Family,

I wish I knew where I've put the photograph of Elbert as Santa Claus at PH. I took one of Elb giving Karl a hug, and we treasure that memory. I think Karl was about 4 at the time, and when our excited little son rushed back to me, he whispered in my ear, "Mom, he's the REAL ONE!" Elb got such a charge out of that! And so did we.

Our PH family will never be quite the same again, and we will miss Elbert deeply. So MANY, many terrific memories keep...
