Elbert "Dusty" Hickernell, age 80, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at his home in Claremont. Dusty was born on December 19, 1943 in Meadeville, PA. He was a loving husband to his wife of 34 years, Martha Hickernell, devoted father to their two sons, Brandon Jeffs and Dustin Hickernell, daughter Shelby Muncy, her husband Kyle Muncy, and proud grandfather to Jackson Miller (six).
Dusty became a Service Member for the United States Air Force shortly after graduating high school. After serving in the USAF, Dusty was a well driller for many years owning his own business D&H Well Drilling in Port Orange, FL. After moving to NC, he retired and enjoyed spending time with his family, fixing anything & everything, and also found a passion for beekeeping. His big personality and unique sense of humor will be cherished by his family.
A family service was held Saturday March 9, at Drum Funeral Home in Conover NC.
As we celebrate Dusty's life, his spirit will forever remain with all of us. He leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and an everlasting impact for all that knew him. In this time of grief, may we find solace in the wonderful memories we shared and the love that continues to connect us to his beautiful soul.
