Not sure what to say?

I wish I had paid more attention to the stories that held the attention of my father and Uncle Jim. I heard them so many times but never got the stories down to memory. Now it is too late to answer the questions. The lessons of life are hidden in the stories of old men. Rest in Peace Dad, hold a place for me on the farm house porch.

Dad and Uncle Jim are surely together, refighting the Civil War and tracing our family's journey on a flat boat from Kentucky and cousin Jefferson Davis to Lepanto, Arkansas. You know you can't go that way anymore; the river has shifted. They listened to their old folks on the porch, just as we listened to them. Rest in peace.

We love you and miss you very much Dad. We are comforted by the knowledge that you and Uncle Jim are catching up on things and exploring those areas of the universe that you two could only theorize about. We're sure you've been able to settle some of the arguments. Rest in peace knowing your family is well and secure because of you.
