Missing Missy.

I was stunned to hear about Missy's passing just now. A few years ago I found out she was my fourth cousin. Although I was effectively a stranger, she invited me to her home to get acquainted, and talk about her grandmother Aline, and Aline's grandfather, who was the brother of my great-great-great-great-grandfather. I met Edla when I was working in an electrical supply store on West 39th Street back in 1995. She used to walk by with her dog, who I think was named Jack. He would be off leash behind her, walking very much at his own pace. My two co-workers and I became friendly with her over time, as she passed us almost daily with a wave and a smile. Missy, The spark of your humor, originality, and creativity lit up our Bryn Mawr days and nights. We all miss you.

I've only known missy too short a time. Less than a year, but in that time I gained so much from her teaching, her presence, her being. Sorely missed.

My inspiration, mentor and beloved friend. Her spirit will stay with me forever! I love you always. My deepest sympathy to Doug, Kate and Michael. And to Aggie Collins, Ezra Cohen who also were young proteges who I think are second family.

Gifted, generous, passionate, fierce, courageous, and unforgettable as all who were ever touched by Missy know.

Kate, when you were a little girl you took my class at the Art Students League...every Saturday morning your mom would bring you in and sit with me and chat...Although it has been many years I can still hear her sweet laugh. I can't think of enough fond words to describe the beautiful, elegant, talented lady. I am so deeply saddened by your loss. My sincere condolences to you, your dad and brother.
