Eleanor Ayers Benedict of Roebuck, South Carolina, passed away at home Thursday, January 15, 2004 following an extended illness. Born in Calhoun County, South Carolina, the daughter of Ida Amaker Ayers and Henry Gibbs Ayers.
She graduated from high school in Columbia, S.C. and Robinson’s Business College in Spartanburg, S.C. She retired from Duke Power Company after thirty years of service.
Surviving family: Frank Benedict, husband; daughter, Frances B. Ashley of Taylors; sons, Jimmy Benedict of Moore, SC and Thomas Benedict of Simpsonville, SC; sisters, Janet A. O’Kelly and Mable A. Strickland of Swansea, SC. Also survived by two granddaughters, two grandsons, two great-granddaugters, two stepsons, two nieces and one nephew.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:15 p.m. Sunday, January 18, 2004 at the Lanford-Dunbar Funeral Home prior to the service.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, January l8, 2004, at the funeral home with Rev. Monty King officiating.
Interment will be in Heritage Memorial Gardens, Roebuck.
The family will be at the home.
