Extremely blessed to have known Eleanor. She was an exceptional and beautiful person. I will always carry my memories of her in my heart and already miss her dearly. My heart goes out to Mark and the girls. My most sincere condolences.

Oh my God! I just heard to day (Monday)! What a terrible loss, to Mark, the kids and the world. A bright light has exploded out of Earth's orbit. From the early 90's till 2008, I knew her as a fellow singer, naturalist, and as a spectacular person, who invited me to watch the birth of Florence, an experience I'll never forget. For thousands of great memories, too numerous to name, I shall always be deeply indebted.

I will remember Eleanor on the paddle courts, always with a smile and a kind word. Her gentle nature always came through. May her memory be a blessing and the fact that she touched so many be a comfort to her family. We will miss her.

My family and I were fortunate to get a glimpse at a few of what Eleanor referred to as her "one hundred lives." 22 years ago Eleanor taught Music Together to a group of toddlers including our "wild child" daughter who ran around the room trying to play other children´s instruments. Eleanor sat unfazed with her trademark smile! Every May we looked forward to hearing Eleanor and her band "28 Strings "play in the Calvary Church gardens during the unforgettable Calvary Nursery School annual fundraiser.
In another one of her many lives Eleanor played tennis in our Mystic Indoor group and occasionally her father would join us. Being young and very naïve, I was sure that we would move him around the court and win. Every time her father played, he gave us a tennis lesson putting the ball exactly where we weren´t and Eleanor loved every minute of it! When Eleanor was your tennis partner, it became clear that competitive sports were in her DNA. She´d encourage you with words such as, "we can do this," "hang in there!"
This summer while Eleanor was facing serious health challenges, we had lunch at the Florence Griswold Museum. Sitting outside, along the banks of the Lieutenant River, she enthusiastically talked about plans to create a permanent home for the Roger Tory Peterson Estuary Center at the former Bee and Thistle Inn. After lunch she asked us drive to the property so we could see her vision.
Last month as I was planning a trip to Eleanor´s beloved Adirondacks, she invited me to come over so she could tell me everything she knew. She was always a teacher and inspirational friend. And while Eleanor may have lived many lives, her time with us feels far too short. This summer, when we travel to Keene, NY near Eleanor´s Adirondack home, we´ll be thinking of her with gratitude.

I worked with Missy briefly in London in 1982 and remember her as a very charming and intelligent woman. I am sure she will be missed by friends, family and the community.

I remember witnessing Eleanor organizing a pick up hockey game at a local ice pond and smiling at the fact that it was not just doing something great for the kids that motivated her but that clearly she wanted to play herself. She was a force of nature. Mark and family we are sorry for your loss
