CLINTON

Eleanor (Heinold) Vitone, 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, April 8, 2016 in the LifeCare Center of Leominster. Her husband of 61 years, Orlando J. "Lanny" Vitone, died in 2009.

She is survived by three sons: Bruce Vitone and his wife, Mary Lou, of Clinton, Carl Vitone, with whom she lived, and Mark Vitone of New Bedford; two grandsons: Andrew Vitone, and Aaron Vitone and his wife, Chelsea, and their sons, Benjamin and William Vitone; a brother-in-law, Pat Vitone and his wife, Eva; many nieces, nephews and their families. One sister, Marie Schreiner, and one brother, Walter Heinold, predeceased her.

Eleanor was born and raised in Clinton, daughter of the late John and Mina (Herting) Heinold, and was a life-long resident. She was a graduate of Clinton High School.

She was employed by Ray-O-Vac, formerly of Clinton, and was a star player on the company softball team. Later, she worked at J.C. Penney, and as an office manager for Dr. Roger D. McCarthy Eye Care, Clinton, until she retired.

Eleanor was a former member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Clinton.

Following retirement, Eleanor and Lanny enjoyed traveling the country in their motor home. In addition, she loved to cook for her whole family.

Per Eleanor's request, funeral services and burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton, are private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to a charity of one's choice. McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., is directing arrangements.
