B.W. Foster Funeral Home - Portsmouth Obituary

Eleni George Nikiforou Loizou, 88, passed away on Mother’s Day, May 13, 2018.

Mrs. Loizou, a native of Famagusta, Cyprus, was the widow of Leondios Chris Loizou since his death in 1992, and was also predeceased by her daughter Nike Loizou Aulisio in 1983.  She was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Norfolk.  She was an avid gardener who lovingly and meticulously cared for her family’s home.

Her memory will be eternal to her two daughters, Martha Pantelides and husband Tony, and Mary Zachos and husband Costas; four grandsons, Nicholas Zachos, Lee Zachos, Christopher Aulisio, and Alek Pantelides; seven great-grandchildren; a brother George Nikiforou; and to her entire family.

A Trisagion service will be held at 6 p.m.  Tuesday May 15 at Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth.  A private family funeral service will be held at St. Theodore Chapel of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral.  She will rest in peace next to her husband and daughter in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the local Alzheimer’s Assoc.  Condolences may be registered at BWFosterFuneralHome.com.

Not sure what to say?

Martha and Mary my thoughts and prayers are with you. Your mother was a sweet, and kind soul. She always asked about my mom when she was sick, and prayed for her. I miss seeing her in her yard. I was always amazed how much energy she had. May she rest in peace. Love, Paula

For the past almost 9 months, I was able to see Ms. Loizou just about every day, and I was always amazed at the tender, loving care that was shown to her by her devoted family. My thoughts and prayers remain with the family.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. Bill and I were so sorry to hear about your mother. Our thoughts and prayers and love go out to you and our family. Bill and Gayle Pringle

Patricia taraborrelli, nick and Nancy taraborrelli, uncle nick and I were just speaking about her the other day. I was wondering if she would remember me if I asked her to make me her Greek coffee. It was the best. And thinking about when my pops and Leon worked at the barber shop. She was an amazing woman. She kept her Greek culture alive in America. My prayers to you all. God has chosen another angel To be by his side.
With love and respect
