Obituary

MELVIN, Eli Sr., 84, of Richmond, entered into eternal life May 16, 2008. He was a U.S. Army retiree with over 20 years of service. He leaves to cherish his memories one daughter, Diane Saunders (Thomas) of Petersburg, Va.; one son, Rev. Eli Melvin Jr.; four grandsons, Charles Green Jr., Eli III and Darrell Melvin, and Sean Saunders; several great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Geneva Hill; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Homegoing services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Greater Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, 913 N. 1st Street. Dr. Kenneth E. Dennis Sr., pastor, officiating. Rev. Eli Melvin Jr., eulogist. The remains will be forwarded to Peoples Funeral Home in Whitesville, N.C. for funeral and interment services. Robert M. Brunson Sr. and Jr., directors.
