Not sure what to say?

I have fondly recalled Eli from my time in his lab at UCLA in the early 70's. He was one of a kind!! Periodically, I would look him up and say a quick hello. Saddened to hear about his passing last year. As I am sure his family knows, he made incredible positive impressions on a myriad of students who passed his way. He made Immunology fun. He did outstanding work, and he did it with JOY! Baruch dayan emet...........

To Rabyn, Eli's Family, Friends, and Students,
I was saddened to see that Eli had passed away. I love to tell stories about my graduate student days at UCLA back in the early 70's. Eli had the hands of a surgeon in his research. He was humble, and always encouraged and empowered his students. I remember the yearly conferences at Asilomar, his "Data Circus" meetings, his home-made yogurt, his cheese parties in the lab, his openness to new and innovative ideas, his wild hair, special...

It was with deep sorrow that I learned , through the press (LA Times)about the death of Elie Sercarz. I was one of his numerous students back in 1965 when he gave a more than excellent course in Immunology at UCLA and attended his many personnal seminars/discussions of current topics. For those sessions, he used to buy us pizzas to spice up the discussions. He was a truely Great Scientist and a formidable thinker whose discussions stimulated us to the best we could give him intellectually. We...

The world of those of us who knew Eli will never be the same - we are now left with memories of those deep, kind and all knowing eyes, those gentle hands that corrected our manuscripts with purple or green ink, and the soundless voice that praised and encouraged and motivated and showed beauty not only of immunology, but of life - that he loved so much. We shall miss him - and shall strive to become "Eliesque".
A Kaddish for Eli...

Cousin Eli, I danced with you at the memorial lastnight, Eli's Dance in Topanga Canyon. How I dearly miss you and in some comforting way I know you live within me and I charish that. You have passion, spirit and find the best in everyone and every thing. I Love You.

I have known Eli for 7 years and he always was a genuine smile when he see you. He always says hello and takes the time to talk with you even if he is busy. He will be greatly missed.

Though I only met and talked with Dr. Eli Sercarz a few times when I worked in San Diego, the encounters were very pleasant. He was a genuinely nice person and eager to explain something if you asked him a question. He will be missed, not just as a scientist but as a caring person.
