Not sure what to say?

Oh, what beautiful person was Elise Marshall! So totally passionate and dedicated to choral music and to her students personally. I was in her theory class, choral conducting and the Concert Choir of ICU in the 1970"s. She kindly allowed me to present my own composition, "Seasons" on choir tour. What a giving person! Steve Petry, ICU class of 1978

So sorry to just see this. Elise was my voice teacher and choir director at Indiana Central University. She believed in my talent and potential when I was still unsure of myself. She helped me become the musician that I am today. I have many wonderful memories her. She will be missed by me.

I am so sorry to hear of her passing. I checked on your mom early in the pandemic and was pleased to see she was still apparently living in her home in Southport. Your mother was a huge influence in my life, as well as a surrogate mother after mine died. I will never forget her. Love to you all, Susan

To the family of Mrs. Marshall (she tried to convince me to call her Elise once I graduated to no avail): thank you so much for sharing your mother with me for several years. I was sent to her by my director at Ben Davis to prepare for my ISSMA solo, which was in German. As a result of studying with her for several years, until I had my first child, I sang in German, French (she swore she could not claim fluency because she still mentally translated it to English or German before speaking),...

Mrs. Marshall was the most influential educator during my years at Tudor Hall School. At a time when I needed the support of a teacher that would fight for me, she was there. I remember how much I loved choir and to see her stand on that box and stamp her foot when she wanted our attention filled me with pride that she was my mentor! When Tudor Singers was formed, I would do anything to be a part of Mrs. Marshall's newest endeavor. I secretly sat outside of her classroom to hear the music she...

Dear Holly, Heidi & David,
Your mother was everything you said in her obit. She was a talented, motivating, incredible woman. I always looked forward to my classes with her be it music history, choir or private lessons. She was able to keep a sense of humor when working with teens, a real art for a challenging age. I remember her cakes, her cooking, her gardens and her knitting. She was truly a renaissance woman. She was one of my favorite teachers at Park Tudor. I was fortunate to...

I cant really describe the influence Mrs. Marshall had on my role as a choir director, how much she taught me about rehearsal, how to work quickly and efficiently, and how MUCH I learned through the repertoire she chose. She was also my music theory teacher and she was excellent. Ive had so many students tell me that I influenced them and I could see her directing style in their hands as well. Know and be proud that her legacy is continuing to be passed down through generations.

I was one of Mrs. Marshalls many private voice students while I was preparing for my college auditions. In my lessons, I remember learning so much about music and the voice, but also about the richness of life! Mrs. Marshall had so many talents and skills and she encouraged me to pursue more of those things in my life. I loved the photo that sat on the piano of her with Aaron Copeland walking in her garden! Rest In Peace, Mrs Marshall and May God bless your family.

Elise was my voice teacher and choir director in college and was very influential in my career. She always made us laugh in Central Singers and was incredibly devoted to her teaching. She will be sorely missed.
