ELISE LORRAINE VIDAL, age 60, of Las Cruces passed from this world on Friday June 22, 2018 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. Elise was born on February 8, 1958 in East Falmouth, MA to Dick and Lois Vidal.
Deeply thoughtful and wise, Elise took many by surprise as her quiet and unassuming ways belied her straight-forward approach and deep intelligence. She was passionate about family, work, education and art. Elise was a Supervisor of Media and Circulation at Thomas Branigan Memorial Library in Las Cruces, where she built one of the best film collections a library could have-a former librarian at TBML summed it up best as "a jewel of a movie collection for the library and the community." Elise's work ethic, encyclopedic knowledge of art and film, and commitment to public service earned her the respect of her co-workers and customers, but it was her trustworthiness and support that earned their affection.
Elise Lorraine Vidal was always an exceptionally warm, loving and supportive person, wife and mother-a life-long best friend to many and certainly to her daughter and husband. She was tough-minded, but fair, patient and always kind. She will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her husband, Eric Ellis; a daughter, Marie Elizabeth Ellis, as well as her mother, Lois Vidal; sisters, Lynda Spears, Laurel Piercy and Leah Maxwell; her brothers, Mark Vidal, Michael Vidal and Martin Vidal. Elise is preceded in death by her father, Richard Vidal and brother, Matthew Vidal.
Family and Friends will join together for a Memorial Service at 10:30 AM Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the Basilica of San Albino, 2070 Calle de Santiago in Mesilla,
Service arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels of Las Cruces and Sunset Crematory, 300 E. Boutz Road, 527-2222. Your exclusive providers for "Veterans and Family Memorial Care". For online condolences logon to www.bacasfuneralchapelslascruces.com

My condolences to your family for the loss of Elise. She had been at Branigan Library so long, It's hard to remember exactly when we met. I know she will be missed by patrons and staff of TBML.

I will miss our fun talks about movies, music and just life. She was a wealth of information and her "east coast" vibe will be very much missed by all of us at the library.

Elise was responsible for The Golden Age of Media at the library.
Working with her for a dozen years was akin to working with a dynamo.
It is a loss for everyone.
