Not sure what to say?

I am so shocked and saddened by this news. Betsy was a few years younger in high school so I only got to know her later, during visits to Portland. And I especially remember her visit to NYC with a Portland group in the wake of 9/11. She was such a wonderful person. My thoughts are with all of her family and loved ones.

Betsy was my very first "new" (ie, not-from-West-Sylvan) friend my freshman year at Lincoln. She, along with Christine Martin, my other "first-new-friend" and I had 1st period Geometry. So, if I recall correctly, there weren't enough chairs in Mrs. Cade's classroom (no fault of hers). Betsy sat perfectly comfortably on one of the 3-4 steps that led down into the classroom. Totally chill. No big deal. (I would NOT have had the same carefree appearance, had it been me in my first class on...

Smiling Betsy. Possessed of a joy of living, travel, sharing and more. I am grateful that our paths crossed. My heart sends thoughts to you on this peaceful part of your journey. We will revere your spot at Tuesday writing group.

Betsy came into my life first as "Aunt Betsy" because she was Anna's best friend's aunt and as far as Anna knew, that was Betsy's complete name. Later, Aunt Betsy began a love affair with Anna's dad, who as many know, remains my dearest friend. I could not have been happier. Betsy started joining the annual Thanksgiving trip, baking wonderful pies and homemade cranberry sauce. She attended lacrosse games and Sunday suppers and sometimes Sunday breakfast with the "fam-damnly." And of...

I knew Betsy when she worked for the City of Portland. She was a positive force and always had a friendly smile. Her knowledge of issues made her a valuable resource to go to for an honest assessment and recommendation. I truly enjoyed working with Betsy. She will be missed but remembered fondly. Tom Potter, Mayor (2005-2009)

Betsy was known city-wide as someone whom everyone knew was looking out for the best interests of the City, and knew how to do that extremely well. Was very surprised to learn of her passing and express condolences to all that were close to her; family, friends and many many co-workers over the years.

To Ames Family - Beautiful Betsy @1999. I am so glad to have known her and will think of her often.

Betsy was incredibly nice person and a fun co-worker back in Vera's office in 90's! I was so happy David and Betsy found each other. Two great people. Thinking of you David.

When someone we love falls asleep in death, the memories we have of them become our TREASURE. May those cherished memories of your loved one and God's promise at John 6:40 bring you a measure of peace and comfort during this most difficult time. My sincerest condolences to the family and friends!
