Elizabeth “Betty” Anne Badgley, 94 years old of Bad Axe, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2025 with her family by her side, at Huron County Medical Care Facility. Betty was born on April 28, 1931 to the late Henry and Bessie (Drummond) Overton, in Royal Oak, Michigan. Betty met her future husband while she was a bookkeeper at ST& H Oil Company, and she and Robert Badgley were married on January 22, 1955. They celebrated 70 years of marriage this past January, and Bob preceded her in death on September 9, 2025. Bob and Betty had owned Bad Axe Marble and Granite for 40 years and Betty was the bookkeeper for their successful business, before their retirement. Betty was also a homemaker raising their family, she was well known for her full line of beautiful crafts, including quilts, tents for kids, dish cloths and making her children’s clothes when they were little. Betty was a Past Matron of Huronia Chapter #81, Order of the Eastern Star, where she helped with numerous fundraiser dinners and often got her children involved. Betty could be quite the adventurer, taking her children and “grandma” on several car trips out west to visit her sister and family. Everyone Betty met, she enjoyed talking with and they became a friend.
Betty is survived by her children; Karen Sue, David Robert, Judith Ann, Laura Jean (Patrick) O’Brien; grandchildren Betsie Olson, Samantha Olson, Edward (Lacey) O’Brien, Jeffrey O’Brien; great-grandchildren Audrey Parks, Theodore Parks and Livian Olson. Along with her husband Robert, Betty was preceded in death by her sister Prudence Pugh and her husband Robert Pugh.
The funeral service for Betty will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025 at 11:00 am at the MacAlpine Mac Chapel in Bad Axe, with Rev. Christina Jensen officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 9, 2025 from 4-7:00 pm, and also one hour prior to the time of service at the Mac Chapel.
The family wishes to thank A&D Hospice, Meadow Lanes Assisted Living and the Huron County Medical Care Facility for the excellent care given to their mother.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered in Betty’s name to the Thumb Animal Shelter in Elkton.
