Read MoreI just learned today that Sister Charlie had died. Since I graduated in 1973 from Notre Dame, I called her every March 15 -- the Ides of March -- to remind her to "beware, Cesaer, the Ides of March!" For many years now, her nurse would hold the phone to her ear and she would respond slowly that she understood me. She was the best.

What a brilliant and witty woman she was! Sr. Elizabeth was by far one of my favorite teachers--so passionate about her subject matter, and equally passionate about our mastery of it. I feel blessed to have been one of her many students. I've added a link to a photo of her from our yearbook.
