Elizabeth Chandler Gentry

Elizabeth Chandler Gentry, died suddenly at her home on October 4, 2013 at age ninety-five. Mrs. Gentry was born in Rutherford County and was the daughter of the late Joseph Wilson Chandler and Dera Chandler Knox. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Wallace Gentry; brother, Joseph Wilson Chandler Jr.; sisters, Geraldine Chandler Pearson and Oneida Chandler Neal.

She is survived by her daugthers, Joan Gentry Johnson of Murfreesboro, TN, Gerry Gentry Black and her husband Hubert of Murfreesboro, TN and Jane Gentry of Louisville, KY; sons, William "Bill" Gentry of Smyrna, TN, Bruce Gentry and his wife Charlotte of Smyrna, TN; grandchildren, Gwen Gentry Potash, Lt. Greg Gentry, Geri Gentry Lee, Michael Weber, Paula Weber, Suzanne Weber, Tommy Gentry, Christy Gentry Jackson, David Weaver, Jerry Weaver, Lisa Weaver Slate; twenty one great grandchildren.

She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Nell Gentry Winnett, Mildred Lee Gentry, Gloria Wright Gentry and Betty Chandler Carroll; several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Gentry was a graduate of Smyrna High School where she played basketball and excelled in Latin. She was a member of Northminister Presbyterian Church and retired from the Alvin C. York VA Medical Center where she made many loving friends.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Monday, October 7, 2013 at Woodfin Memorial Chapel in Murfreesboro. The Reverend Jack Westland, Brother Ralph Neal and Brother Randy Neal will officiate. Burial will follow at Mapleview Cemetery in Smyrna, TN.

Pallbearers will be Grandsons; Tommy Gentry, Michael Weber, Lt. Greg Gentry, David Weaver, Jerry Weaver, Mathew Weaver, Colby Jackson, Keith Lee and Nathan Jones.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 6, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, (615) 893-5151
