GLADDING, Elizabeth Caldwell, 99, of Richmond, widow of Randolph N. Gladding, died Wednesday, December 22, 2010. Mrs. Gladding was a native of Orangeburg, S.C. She was a graduate of Richmond Professional Institute (now VCU) and had taught in the Richmond Public School System. She was a charter member of Reveille United Methodist Church, a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Richmond Story League, the American Association of University Women, and was a former member of the Every Monday Club. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Gladding Tiller and her husband, Tommy; four grandchildren, Christopher T. Tiller, Trish T. Holland, Julie T. Blanton and William D. Tiller; and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Gladding was preceded in death by her sister, Miriam Caldwell Cowley. Her family extends special thanks to Rosa Allen and Louella Marshall for their excellent and devoted care to mother while she was at her home and to all the staff at the Westport Healthcare Center during her stay. Remains rest at the Central Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave., where services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 30. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Virginia Home for Boys and Girls, Reveille United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, Hospice of Virginia or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
