Elizabeth Samuel Harkless DARLINGTON - Funeral service for Mrs. Elizabeth Samuel Harkless will be 1:00 p. m. Sunday, June 9, 2013 in Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Samuel Fulmore, Pastor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery directed by Mitchell-Josey Funeral Home, Inc. Mrs. Harkless died Sunday, June 2nd at her residence. She was born in Darlington County a daughter of the late Julius and Classie Thomas Samuel. She was the widow of Mr. James G. Harkless, Sr. She received her formal education in the Darlington County public schools and was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church serving as a member of the Missionary, Gospel Choir, Usher Board and also the Mother of the Church. In the community, she was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Morning Star Chapter #220. Survivors include: 7 children: James G. (Kim) Harkless, Virginia A. Harkless both of Fayetteville, NC, Johnnie (Kathleen) Harkless, Roosevelt Harkless, George (Janet) Harkless all of Darlington, Ronnie E. (Gail) Harkless, of the home, Maudie H. (Charles) Hunter of Florence, SC and George (Janet) Harkless of Darlington, SC; a sister, Mrs. Cynthia Jerry of Baltimore, MD; a son-in-law, Marion Williams; 5 sisters-in-law; 3 brothers-in-law; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Deloris Harkless and Margaret H. Williams. Wake service with Eastern Star Rites 6 p. m. tonight at the funeral home and at other times the family is receiving friends at the residence, 205 Harllee Drive, Darlington.
