This is difficult for me. I've been trying "Aunt" Bettie's phone since Christmas Day with no answer. So I tried this website today fearing the worst. I am Bettie's great nephew Doug on Les' side of the family. Les' brother Charles was my grandfather. My brother Craig and I called her "Aunt" because she was my Dad's age, rather than my great uncle's. I remember the cabin they had west of Harrisburg. We all had such fun there in the summer.

We were sorry to hear of Bettie's passing. She was my mom's best friend for close to 90 years. Les and Bettie treated my brother and I like we were their kids. She and my mom went to school together, played basketball together, volunteered at Homeland together, were in the same Sunday School class, sat in the same pew at church and Golden Age Club. She enjoyed her opera music and her Friday night dinners with the girls.

Now she is free of pain and probably sitting with her friend...
