Not sure what to say?

When I was a student at Levy Jr. High in the early 1960s, I hadn't been exposed to much classical music at home. I will always remember how moving and inspirational Miss Mann's music appreciation classes were for me. She didn't over-analyze what we heard: she let the music speak for itself.

Many years later I caught up with her after a SSO concert and had the chance to thank her in person.

Miss Mann was an encouraging and inspirational teacher to this young lad, struggling to learn the violin in 1953,54. I remember the morning rehearsals of her Levy orchestra and how pround I was to be a small part. Miss Mann, you will be long remembered.

Wish I could have shared this with her.

I'll never forget her playing the cello for us in seventh-grade music class at Levy during the fall of 1955....and how happy I was for her when I saw her playing in the Symphony eighteen years later, after I had returned to Syracuse. She was a gentle woman with a warm heart....My sympathy to her family and friends.

I have thought of Miss Mann many, many times over the past few weeks with the struggle of the symphony. I will remember her as the embodiment of what a music teacher is - Meg Brooks, Nottingham '69

My condolences to the family from a member of the Syracuse Symphony Association, and a Nottingham alum ('66).

As a former student at Nottingham High School and a neighbor on Roe Ave. in Syracuse, I always held her in the highest regard. I know she will be missed. Fred Jackson (Syracuse,N.Y.)
