Not sure what to say?

Other memories speak of Dr. McKenna's many qualities, but my mother and I remember her well for her dry and very sharp wit, also. When she was our doctor, way back in the sixties, she didn't pull any punches. Consequently, I quit smoking and mom lost 30 pounds; a great benefit to both of us. When I went back with terrible allergies six months later, Dr. McKenna told me I had been "too polluted" when I smoked for the allergies to bother me. Mom and I still laugh about that, and have...

I am so sorry to see that Betty has passed away-she was an inspiration to all of us who knew her.I met her through her "San Diego Family"-Tommy,Beth,Patty and Mary--and spent many Sundays over dinner listening to her stories of life and work. She really was well ahead of her time,a true pioneer in he medical field. Her life contributions were very significant and appreciated by all.

God's fairways are going to be busy.
A remarkable person and a good, knowledgeable, compassionate, and conscientious Doc, unafraid to speak her mind, Betty will be greatly missed around Scripps Hospital and FP Dept.

I love you, Betty.

Dr. Betty was indeed a very loving and compassionate person. We were fortunate to know her as both a friend and physician. We will be forever greatful to her, for what she has done. God Bless her soul.
Our Thoughts and Prayers are with all of you.
Thinking of you,

Dr. McKenna took wonderful care of my mother through out her life. The last months of her life Dr. McKenna was a great support. She gave wonderful advise to me and my sibbling to spend as much time with my mother as possible. We rotated weeks until her passing. I will always be greatful to her.

It was a privilege to know Betty and an honor to play golf with her I shall have happy memories of her wonderful sense of humor and golfing abaility

A wave of sadness passed over when I heard of Dr. McKenna's passing. I was her cats' veterinarian. through them I came to know Dr. McKenna's gentle compassion that surely she shared with her patients all the long years of her career. I wanted her survivors to remember this side of her as I shall never forget it.

What caught my attention in the obituary was reference to Dr. Betty as "wise and compassionate counsel."
How true, and how wonderful was her presence at our Sunday morning coffee and donuts after Mass.
And her recollections to us of life in Minnesota were so colorful, and imparted to us the "way things used to be" in such a marvelous way. Everyone enjoyed hearing her stories, and I'm sure we all love her immensely.
