Not sure what to say?

Wow! What a life. So many of the traits mentioned were already there at Walnut Hills...especially the quick, irreverent wit! Sending deep sympathy for your loss.

Dear Jon and Liz: I was greatly saddened to learn of Vicky´s death. She was one of a small group of friends who sustained and enriched my life at Wellesley. She was always the funny one, with a wit that overlaid and even sometimes disguised deep thinking. Vicky herself intervened in a courageous way during that time to enable my continued dedication to philosophy, an intervention that I´m now sure made a huge difference to the way my life turned out. I´m not surprised that she turned...

I learned feminist philosophy at Prof. Spelman's knee, through her valuable publications. Prof. of Philosophy at University of Dar es Salaam Tanzania

Vicky's generosity was unparalleled. She was a mentor and member of SOFPHIA and a fabulous host and travel companion. I fondly remember our time together in Vienna where she had a prestigious fellowship. While I write on human play, Vicky exuded the ludic spirit, with humor and poise. Vicky Presente!

I shall always remember Vicky´s kindness and wonderful sense of humor. She made a difference in each and every life she touched. My sincere condolences to her family, colleagues and friends.

Vicky Spelman was so very kind and supportive of me throughout my career at Smith College. I will always remember her with fondness and deep respect for the intellectual brilliance she gifted to the world.

Vicky and I shared the same floor in a small building where we had our offices in our early days at Smith College. She liked to say, with a grin, "We shared a bathroom." Later, we were in an informal discussion group together and I remember some of her interesting, often unorthodox contributions. She recommended a book to me long ago that helped my thinking (not her book!). Above all, it is her smile that I remember.

Hello Jon, It was my pleasure to have known Vicky since WHHS, so a lot longer than her colleagues at Smith. She always retained her sense of humor and her wry smile at the follies of fellow humans (self included). I know she was a beloved member of the Smith faculty and of her devoted students. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time..
