Elizabeth J. Tusing

Betty was one of the sweetest souls I have ever met, I am so glad that I got to meet her/help take care of her. I would talk to her everyday and we were always laughing about something. She had the biggest smile and it was contagious. May she rest in peace.

I have great memories of Ms. Tusing. She was always kind and compassionate. I will never forget our Spanish class trip to Mexico. She will be missed.

Miss Tussing was the first person to truly believe that I could be a Spanish teacher. She gave me opportunities to help her in the classroom and to pursue the education field. I am very grateful to her, may she rest in peace.

I swear I´ve tried to write this and delete it and wrote it again probably at least 50 times. I´m still trying to find the right words to express what this amazing woman meant to me. She was one of my mom`s best friends, whenever we would come up to visit my mom`s family in Arnold during the summers, she would always go out of her way to do stuff with us. Miss Tusing was my Spanish teacher her first year at Tarentum High School when I was in eighth grade. We western Pennsylvanians had little familiarity with the Spanish/Mexican culture. Miss Tusing was my Spanish teacher & truly one of the best. Such a kind & caring person. She took me on an IntraAmerican Student Tour to Mexico in the summer of 1974. What great memories we made with our group. She was always so kind to our Spanish speaking exchange students. She was a caring mother figure to them when they were scared, homesick, etc. I got to take one of those students to her house a few years ago when they were here visiting me. Ms. Rising was my high school Spanish teacher. I learned a lot from her and her upbeat manner always made it a class I enjoyed. She will be missed.
