I met Liz when we moved in to the neighborhood. She was always kind and welcoming. She often had a flower or some bulbs to share. She was quite a gardener! When my Dad lived here, she and George would come and visit him at his place next door to me. She recently mentioned a book she continued to work on. I look forward to reading it. Liz was a really good neighbor. I enjoyed reading the Wikipedia entry about her life today too. She made a difference! Thank you Liz.

In 1984 I interviewed with State Representative Liz VanLeeuwen for a college internship at the capitol in Salem. I can trace every job in my career since then to the exposure and experience she gave me. Intern to Legislative Aide, she mentored me, empiwered me. No one outworked her and her word was her bond. I wish the world in general, and the political world specifically, had more Liz VanLeeuwens. Rest in Peace. Steve Patterson, McMinnville, Or
