WENDT, Elizabeth (Mrs. Lewis E.) - Of Grand Blanc, age 93, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died peacefully after a short battle with esophageal cancer on Sunday, June 24, 2007 at Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich. Funeral service will be held at 11AM Thursday, June 28, 2007 at Gloria Dei Ev. Lutheran Church, 5005 McCandlish Road, Grand Blanc, Vicar Timothy Shrimpton officiating. Private burial in Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park. Those desiring may make contributions to Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich or Gloria Dei Ev. Lutheran Church Building Fund. Visitation 1-8PM Wednesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Mrs. Wendt will be at the church from 10AM Thursday until the time of the service. Elizabeth was born in Wehrum, Pennsylvania on April 22, 1914, the daughter of Frank and Clorinda (Papini) Caprino and was a resident of Coral, Pennsylvania, Detroit, Michigan, Wayne, Michigan and Grand Blanc. She was a longtime member of St. John's Evangelist Lutheran Church in Wayne and then in Westland and was a current member of Gloria Dei Ev. Lutheran Church in Grand Blanc. For many years Elizabeth was part of the Ladies Aid at St. John's in Westland and many years did volunteer work for Annapolis Hospital in Wayne and also for the American Red Cross. She enjoyed doing any kind of handwork, especially sewing, embroidery, knitting, crocheting and tatting. Surviving are only child, daughter, Eileen (Bob) Smith of Goodrich; granddaughter, Kathi (Ronald) Goovert of Holly, MI; great-grandson, Matthew Paul Degraeve and his father, Paul, of Waterford, MI; sisters, Theresa (Michael) Pluchinsky of Indiana, PA and Grace (Stephen) Sniezyk of Brighton, MI; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
