Gandel (Olson), Ella age 97, formerly of Minneapolis, MN, passed away March 18, 2006, in Indianapolis, IN. Born October 6, 1908, Milan, Kragero Township, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by parents, Hannah and James Olson; husband, Leonard R. Gandel; daughter, Heloise (Gandel) Burck; son, Merrill Gandel. Survived by loving grandchildren, Tara (Gandel) and Peter Hudson; Jodi (Gandel) and Greg Klein; Rebecca Burck; Leonard and Sandy Gandel; great-granddaughters, Alaina and Alesha Klein, Sarah Hudson Razo; three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth (Olson) Kleven; daughter- in-law, LaVon (Gandel) Prosser; son-in-law, Philip Burck; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and many friends. Ella was a 1927 graduate of Milan High School, where she was a member of the undefeated Girls' Basketball team. After graduating from the Fairview Hospital School of Nursing in 1930, she spent her career in Minneapolis as a Registered Nurse specializing in the care of premature infants, retiring from (Abbott) Northwestern Hospital in 1974. Ella moved to Indianapolis, IN, in 1992, where she has many dear friends. She loved family, music, travel, and the Indiana Pacers. She was a member of Richfield Lutheran Church in Richfield, MN, and King of Glory Lutheran Church in Carmel, IN. Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m., Friday, March 24, 2006, at Lakewood Cemetery Memorial Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Avenue, Mpls., MN 55408. Visitation Thursday, March 23, 2006, 4-7 p.m. at Washburn- McReavy, Edina Chapel, 5000 West 50th & Hwy 100, Edina, MN 55436. Visitation Friday one half hour prior to service. Interment at Lakewood Cemetery. No flowers, please. Memorials preferred. Abbott-Northwestern Hospital Foundation, Minneapolis, MN or St. Vincent Hospice Indianapolis, IN.
