Ella Sue Rone, died peacefully in her sleep late Monday evening, November 14, 2016. Born June 16, 1921 to Elizabeth and Jim Seward, Mrs. Rone was a resident of Murfreesboro, TN. As a child Ella lived in Rutherford County; her father managed farms for Mr. Jack Beasley and later Mr. Jack Wilson. Ella Sue attended Murfreesboro Central High School, graduating with honors as a beta scholar, member of the National Honor Society and also member of the high school color guard. Ella Sue worked as a bookkeeper at the Red Mill before settling into her role as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was introduced, by a relative, to Maris Chester Rone of Mt. Juliet, TN. They married December 6, 1942; beginning a love affair lasting nearly 65 years before Chester’s sudden death in 2007. Ella Sue’s beloved brother, Edward Sims Seward, preceded her in death as a WWII casualty, Leyte, Philippines, 1945.
After Chester’s discharge from WWII, he and Ella Sue moved to Bakertown, a Nashville, TN suburb. They were active members of Mill Creek Baptist Church and spent the next 30 years devoted to rearing their three children and remodeling their Ezell Road home. In 1976, Ella Sue and Chester moved to Murfreesboro to assist their aging parents. They continued their active church life at Southeast Baptist Church, caring for Jim and Elizabeth Seward and Maris Whitney Rone until their deaths.
Ella Sue Rone is survived by her three children, Maris Elizabeth Rone (David) of Tyler, TX, James Whitney Rone (Jenny) of Glenn Dale, MD, Thomas David Rone (Patti) of Murfreesboro, Four grandchildren, Jules Kaliel (Happy) Klein-Rone, Johnathan Nolan Rone (Katie), Matthew Scott Rone (Amanda) and Kelsey Michelle Rone, four great grandchildren, Addyson Nicole Rone, Zoey Christine Rone, Lucy Grace Rone and Nolan Christopher Rone. Ella Sue Seward Rone is also survived by the living members of 21 loving Seward first cousins and her very special Rone nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 1:00pm Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Bro. Joe Vinson and Kent Robbins will officiate. Nephews and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family requests that deacons from Mill Creek and Southeast Baptist Churches serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Following the service, Ella Sue Rone will be interred in the family plot at Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Ella Sue Rone.
