Ella Mae Smith

Ella Mae Smith was truly a special person. I was blessed to call her my friend. Her smile and sweet spirit always brightened my day. We stayed in contact for many years after I left Vennard. Eventually, we lost contact, but I never forgot her and kept trying to find her. She will always hold a very special place in my heart, and I look forward to seeing her again in heaven.

Ella Mae Smith was one of the many precious people I had the privilege of knowing while I was a student at Vennard College. With my remaining in University Park long term after graduating from Vennard (1971) and attending the same church Ella Mae attended, we had many opportunities to fellowship, until Ella Mae retired and moved back to Michigan (also my home state). It was a great blessing and personal joy to serve at Vennard College alongside Miss Ella Mae Smith. We shared on the Executive Committee for the eight years I was the Academic Dean, and I was blessed by her gracious spirit throughout the entire eleven years Margie and I served at the College.
