She had a smile that would immediately help cheer you up and chase away whatever was troubling you. Ellen always had a special scripture for you and she loved to tell you about "her Jesus". I was a friend of Sonja's, and during our teenage years I lived in the neighborhood. Ellen was always kind to me. She welcomed me into her home, fed me, and often included me in outings with her children. She was a devout Christian and lived her beliefs. And I will always have good memories of being in Ellen's kitchen in the house on K Street.
