Not sure what to say?

I had three happy high school years with Miss Beckman as my music teacher (1970-1973). I was so sorry to hear of her passing, she was one of a kind and I have many fond memories of our choir excursions.

I first met Miss Beckman when I was an eighth grader at Greenbelt Jr./Sr. High School. I always enjoyed her music class. She moved on with the rest of us in 1951 to brand-new Northwestern High School in Hyattsville where, among other notable accomplishments in the music department, she wrote our brand new school song. I never saw her after I graduated in 1954, but I never forgot her.

It was an honor to know Aunt Ellen. Her kindness and warmth and in particular, stories about growing up in Chicago with her brother John will be forever cherished. God blessed us with Aunt Ellen for 94 years and knowing that she is now with her mother, father and brother makes our loss a little easier.

She was a wonderful and intelligent music teacher. She inspired a life-long love of music in many of her students.

I met Ellen through Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War. She had such a spirit.
