Ellen D. (O’Connor) Borowski, 72, died Tuesday August 16th in Baystate Medical Center. She was born on September 27, 1949 in Springfield, MA to the late James J. and Phyllis A. (Powers) O’Connor of South Yarmouth MA. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s grammar and High Schools in Claremont NH. She graduated from Our Lady of the Elms College with a bachelor degree in social work. Ellen retired as a supervisor of social work for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. She loved traveling especially to Ireland, riding motorcycles with her husband, painting, crafts, antiquing, dining out with the girls and especially family gatherings and celebrations. True to her Irish heritage, Ellen was a member of the John Boyle O’Reilly Club, the Sons of Erin and the Irish Cultural Center. She leaves her husband of 29 years, Theodore “Ted” Borowski, her sister Alicia and her husband Joseph Tyburski of Ludlow, her two step-sons Ted Borowski Jr. and his wife Jennifer of CT and Todd Borowski of PA, and four step-grandchildren, Jack, Emma, Paige and Amber. The funeral service will be Monday August 22nd starting with a calling hour from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the O’Brien Family Funeral Home, 33 Lamb St., South Hadley. MA. followed by a funeral home service at 11:00 am. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fuller Rd. Chicopee.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the MSPCA, the D’Amour Center for Cancer Care part of Baystate Medical System or a charity of your choice.
