Not sure what to say?

I miss you. I always have. Funny how cats are part of my life again...

Ellen, I didn't get to see you often. I would run into you in supermarket and you would laugh and say people are shocked when they see me in a store. I was admired your sense of humor and how smart you were.

Ellen - I think of you all the time. From the early days when I was the lucky recipient of your tacky gift exchange to your always funny comments to your unending graciousness when I bothered you with some silly cat question - there are so many things for which to thank you. I think WWHBS at least once a day. Happy Birthday Ellen - we all miss you.

Dear Ellen: Its been more than 30 years since we met and you cared for my very first horse, Midnight Blue. You were patient with us both - me as a new owner and Blue who was an old soul and had seen it all. Thank you. I'm sorry you had to leave us so soon but am glad to know you are no longer in pain.

Back in the days before purchasing her farm Ellen boarded her horse with me, and was my vet. Later, taking on a full time position, we sort of lost touch. Would occasionally bump into her at some horse show doing our volunteer work for PVDA. Was shocked and sad to see of her passing. Will forever remember the good times. RIP Ellen.

When I think of Ellen, I immediately think of her wit and humor, but getting past that, she went beyond the boundaries of kindness and generosity. Everyone who knew her has a story to tell of how she helped someone, animal or person, without ever expecting anything in return. Ellen was 'humble' personified and someone I strive to be. The world is a better place from her being here. I miss her.

Ellen in 2007

Ellen was one of the wittiest people I knew. She never failed to make most of her friends laugh. Over the years, we would have a dinner here or there. I would call if I was in her neck of the woods, and she would invariably say I should stop by. See the tree that fell on and into her house, visit her barn, her horses, and most of all just have a good visit.

I will miss her and her practical outlook on life.

Ellen was a delight to be around. So many of us have had the good fortune to spend time with her. She will be missed and never forgotten.
