Huffman, Mrs. , Ellen L. Muskegon, MI Ellen Louise (Koplen) Huffman was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota October 5, 1942. She passed away July 25, 2016 at Harbor Hospice in Muskegon. Services will be held in the chapel at Sunrise Memorial Gardens on Friday, July 29 at 1:00 PM. Pastor William Uetricht officiating. Viewing preceding. Ellen was the daughter of Charles Frederick and Ethel Jane Koplen and the youngest of eleven children. She graduated from the South Dakota School for the Blind in 1963. Soon after, Ellen came to Muskegon to care for her older sister Rose Meyers. She remained in Muskegon to nanny her nephew, Walter "Buddy" Meyers. She married Andrew Huffman in 1982. Ellen was an active member of her community playing Bingo and Euchre weekly and attending the Lions Winter Camp faithfully. She was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents Charles and Ethel Koplen, her siblings Dorothy Larson, Rose Meyers, Doris Kitchen, Charles Koplen, Lewis, Koplen, Marlys Dufloth, Geraldine Larson, Ethel Mayer, Marjorie Ann Koplen and a stillborn sister. She is survived by nieces and nephews in Michigan, South Dakota, Wyoming, and Louisiana, as well as many grand nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Pall bearers will be Roger Mork, Michael Koplen, Al Burton, Christopher Fagan, Zachary Fagan, and Matthew Fagan. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to South Dakota School for the Blind & Visually Impaired, 428 17th Avenue, SE, Aberdeen, SD 57401 or Muskegon Eastside Lions Club, 5263 East Apple Avenue, Muskegon, MI 49442.

I didnt know you very long but enjoyed sitting next to you at Bingo and hearing you say N FORTY whenever it was called. Will miss you.

We enjoyed seeing Helen at the All School Reunions at the SD School for the Blind. She will be missed!
