Ellen Faye Mindell

Ellen and Miranda were friends and neighbors of my family in Berkeley, CA. I am deeply saddened and shocked to hear of Ellen's untimely death. I always admired Ellen's spunk, her generous spirit, and her passion for making the world a better place. Her actions always reflected her values. We were neighbors and friends of Ellen and Miranda on Parker Street, in Berkeley. Both our daughters played with Miranda, and spend much time in Ellen's home. Each of our girls loved Ellen for her joy and understanding. I, particulary, was struck with her care for people and her desire for fairness in life. She never, ever, was too busy to help a friend. She, naturally, had a wide circle of friends--artists, activists, fun people.

Ms. Mindell was my violin teacher in Charlotte, NC for a few years. She touched my heart is ways that I can't explain. I am very saddened by the news of her death. I remember that during my violin lesson she would always tell stories that I will remember for life. She was not just a violin teacher, she was a life teacher.
We still have her bird Ben as a memory of her.
