Ellen O'Brien taught me that a crafty 2 second test splat of the right color on a scrap of elephant paper was much more desirable than two or three wretched hours of over-thinking a simple still life.

What a great loss! She was one of the best artists and instructors and I learned much from Ellen in her classes at PPCC. She gave us opportunities to try many different techniques and ideas and I especially enjoyed her humor and down-to-earth way of looking at life in general. My condolences to all of you.
