Ellen Spencer Palmer
Ellen Spencer Palmer, of Orem, passed away at her home on July 31, 2007. She was 59. The accomplishments of her life are evidence of the strength and dedication by which she lived. She had been frustrated, in recent years, by the effects of leukemia.
Ellen was born to Ruth Elizabeth Butler and John Woodrow Spencer on July 24, 1948, in Bear Lake County Idaho, the 3rd of seven children. She spent her growing up years in Paris, Idaho, where she attended Emerson Elementary School and Fielding High School and graduated in the spring of 1966.
In the fall of 1966 she attended Ricks College where she met Craig J. Palmer her future husband & eternal Sweetheart.
Upon graduation from Ricks in 1968 she moved to Provo and was employed at BYU in the admissions office where she worked until 1972.
In May of 1971 she married Craig Palmer in the Logan Temple and within a month of their marriage they organized and started a repair company in Orem and called it The Mending Shed. In 1973 they bought a home in Orem where they settled and raised their seven children. Through the years Ellen worked at the business, always handling the finances. As the business developed she became the chief financial officer of the corporation.
Ellen was very devoted to the important things in her life, the most important of which were her husband, her family and her faith. Ellen was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony. Among her favorite callings were: Young Women's, Girls Camp, Primary and Scouting. The things she treasured most in this life were her ability to serve, her testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, her family and especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sisters: Marie Searle, Beth Young, June Asisi, and her brothers Leo and Lynn. She is also survived by her husband Craig and her children: Kamden (Stefani) Palmer, San Diego, Joe (Laura) Palmer, Orem, Dustin (Amy) Palmer, Orem, Hollie (Rod Holcomb), Springville, Marcie (Jaris Hansen), Evans, Co., Nick (Tallie) Palmer, Orem, and Kara (Justin Bosshardt), Logan. Not sure what to say?

Dear Palmer Family,

We were so surprised and saddened to hear of Ellen's passing when we returned home from vacation. We have so many wonderful memories that include both Ellen and Craig. To me, she was always one of the most spiritually strong people that I knew and I always was in awe of her many capabilities. She will be greatly missed. May our Heavenly Father strength & comfort you in the days ahead.

We were loyal customers of the Mending Shed for decades. Our condolences to the family.

How I will miss Ellen's gentle and loving ways. She always made others feel cared about and appreciated. She inspired us all at the Central Utah Cancer Center.
As we are creating our new Healing room, some of the group memebers have donated in her honor. She will be remembered well.
May you find solace in the peace that she found. She spoke often of her great love for you all.
We will all miss her greatly.
