I am so very sorry for your loss - any day I ran in to Ellen was a good day - such a remarkable woman, so talented, and always ready to laugh (except about Republicans) I´m lucky to have known her!

Many of us students had the opportunity to learn from, and about, Mrs. Viereck. Her interests were wide and colorfully varied (delivered with the inseparable passion she always maintained.) We listened with joy and wonder as she enlightened us about the work that she and her husband, Phil, did in Alaska.
