Dr. Ellis J. Berne saw the very first television at the New York World's Fair 1939. The RCA TRK 12s television was just a little bigger than a post card. Born in New York City of Russian immigrant parents, Ellis lived a full and interesting life. He was a dynamic and interesting personality both...

Not sure what to say?

Dr. Ellis Berne was my Professor when he taught the MA (HRD) GWU Program in Singapore in 1990. He was an excellent teacher and his classes were always interesting and enriching. We became good friends and communicated with each other especially during the Christmas Holidays. I missed receiving his lively message last December 2010. I was so sad to hear his demise from Gerda & Ellen. He will always be remembered & may he Rest in Peace.

Dr. Berne was my counselor and this year, I have been taking online classes, and therefore was not on campus when he left. I will never forget his humor. Oh my goodness! He would keep us laughing in class and oh the stories of businesses from times past kept our class in awe. "You guys did that!" I told him I could not sleep, he commented, "well that's another situation, but you can learn." He taught both my daughter and me in the same class and when he did not see her, he asked how she was...

I had the pleasure of having Dr. Berne for 4 classes and met him in 2004. I enjoyed his method of teaching tremedously, he made learning interesting. He always encouraged me to keep working and gave me great advice.

He contributed significantly to this world and will be deeply missed.

Ellis was one of the nicest professionals that I have met. Ellis and I worked together for over 10 years and actually I helped him learn Managerial Accounting. He always had an encouraging word for both staff and students. He took a personal interest in people and my life was made better for having known him.

Dr. Ellis Berne was my favorite instructor for several of my classes. What I enjoyed about him is that he was able to think more on the positive and a little less on the negative side of his students. He also kept a smile on his student’s faces even through the horrifying mid-terms and finals. Dr. Berne’s had mutual respect from the students. He will be missed but not forgotten.

We have known Dr. Ellis Berne for sixty years: as a close loving friend, as an early professional associate whose intellectual capacity was limitless. Conversing with Ellis was always a joy. He understood, he explained, he anticipated, he sympathized and empathized, he jested, he encouraged, he projected, he forgave, he enthused and created. Our deepest condolences to his family
To our knowledge he had no equal. He will be sorely missed and remain forever in our memory.

Dr. Ellis Berne was one of the nicest Professors that I have ever met during my career at Strayer University.
I took several business classes with him,and I remember he always said to me "My son,try and get your degree go back home, and become the president of Sierra Leone, so that I can come pay a visit." He was such an inspiration."may his soul rest in perfect peace."

I had the privilege of being a student of Dr. Berne at Strayer for quite a few courses. It was a pleasure to be in his class. He not only taught the material in the course but incorporated his life experience into that material to make it interesting. He was a great teacher, person and friend and I will miss him. The halls at Strayer are not the same without Dr. Berne. My sincere condolences go out to his family.
